CREATING ICONS
After and alongside various successful projects for partners of their sieger design agency, in 2005 Christian and Michael Sieger decided to launch their own premium brand SIEGER, which includes the SIEGER by FÜRSTENBERG collections. Then as now, they were driven by a desire to create icons and modern classics for home and tableware.
THE INSPIRATION
There are two starting points to the design process: firstly, an exploration of people’s needs; secondly, a spontaneous idea. Michael Sieger finds inspiration in travel, theatre, art exhibitions, reading and meeting people from across the globe. While he is away from the studio, he records any fleeting ideas that come to him in a small sketchbook or on a tablet.
DESIGN FOR DAILY LIFE
Extensive research on the history of a product and international habits often provides a crucial stimulus. Nowadays, who needs dishes that aren’t dishwasher-proof and can’t be used for a variety of occasions? The MY CHINA! collection, in which every item can be combined and harmonised with every other, meets the needs of today and tomorrow.

UNCOMPROMISING QUALITY
One of the brother’s guiding principles is to stretch the limits of possibility by demanding the seemingly impossible. The drive to achieve perfection and absolute harmony is evident throughout the entire design process. Every single creation is developed over a period of months or sometimes years. There is a constant focus on form and function, the same attention to detail goes into the texture and feel of each piece. This process is aided by 3D prototypes, which are either printed digitally or made with lavish care in the in-house modelling workshop. The models are later also used as templates for Porzellanmanufaktur FÜRSTENBERG.
THE PARTNERSHIP
The uncompromising insistence on using ultra-thin porcelain has proved a particular challenge, demanding the highest levels of craftsmanship. The Porzellanmanufaktur FÜRSTENBERG has been able to deliver this unparalleled fineness and precision by drawing on the expertise it has built up over its long history – over 270 years to date.
